About Free Alarm Check
This site answers one question: can my mum or dad get a personal alarm for free from the council — and if not, which one should I buy?
Why it exists
Most people searching for a pendant alarm at 10pm have just had a scare. They find a dozen companies selling alarms and almost nothing clear about the free council option. Councils do provide alarms, often free, but the information is buried under different names — Careline, Lifeline, telecare, community alarm — on 382 different websites.
So we built a short check, a page for every UK council, and an honest comparison of the paid alarms. The free option always comes first.
Who we are
Free Alarm Check is a small independent website run from the UK. We're not a council, not the NHS, and not owned by an alarm company. You can reach us at hello@freealarmcheck.co.uk.
How we keep it honest
- Every council page shows the date its details were last checked, and says plainly when we haven't verified them yet.
- Every price shows the date we checked it.
- The check never hides the council route. Even when we recommend buying privately, the council information is shown first.
- We make money from one affiliate link, explained in full on how we make money.
- We don't make medical claims. Alarms call for help when a button is pressed or a fall is detected; we don't say they prevent anything.
Found a mistake?
Council schemes change every April and sometimes mid-year. If a page is out of date, email hello@freealarmcheck.co.uk with the council name and we'll fix it.
