Free Alarm Check

Privacy and cookies

We collect as little as we can. There are no accounts and we never ask for your email.

The check

The postcode you type is sent to postcodes.io, a free public service, to find the council. We don't store it. Your answers stay in your browser; the result page's web address contains the answers so you can share it, but nothing is sent to us.

Analytics (no cookies)

We use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service that uses no cookies and collects no personal data. It tells us which pages are read, how many people finish the check, and how many click through to an alarm provider. It can't identify you.

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which works the same way: no cookies, no personal data, just page counts and where visitors came from.

One optional cookie

If we run adverts on Facebook or Instagram, we'd like to know whether they work. That uses a Meta pixel, which sets a cookie. It's off unless you press "Allow" on the banner. If you press "No thanks", or ignore the banner, no pixel loads and no cookie is set.

Affiliate links

When you click a link to an alarm provider, you pass through our address /go/… and then the Awin affiliate network, which sets its own cookie on the provider's site so the sale can be matched to us. We see that a click and a sale happened, not who you are. See how we make money.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security.
